A PSA 9 graded (Mint Condition) Pokémon "Pikachu" Illustrator CoroCoro Promo has sold yesterday on auction for $195,000. This auction took place in Lynbrook, NY, US by Auction House Weiss Auctions.
For alot of collectors, this card is one of the 'holy grails' in this hobby and is notorious for it's rarity. This card is also known for being faked alot too. This is the highest publicly sold price for a Pokémon card in history.
It's currently unknown for us who has won this auction. The estimated value before the auction was $125,000 - $175,000. There is a 15% buyers premium added to all lots won, so the winner of the auction will at least pay $224,250. Also minor detail: "New York State Residents Must Add 8.625% State Sales Tax Unless You Submit A Valid Resale Certificate."
The images above is the specific card that has been sold with it's unique certification number. If you want to check out this Illustrator card, you can check the certification page of this card on PSA:

To give you an indication of how rare this Illustrator card is: Currently there is a population of total 18 Illustrator cards at PSA in their database, which of 6 illustrator cards are PSA 9 graded. There also could be regrades in there so the numbers could not be true of the actual real numbers (not confirmed). Also there are Illustrator cards at BGS (Beckett Grading Service), but PSA seems to be the most preferred service for this card.
You can check out the auction listing yourself at Weiss Auctions.
Thank you tradenatural for letting us know about this auction.
