After our Worlds 2019 coverage, the first press release for our first ever Sword and Shield set has been released. The card designs for the Zacian V and Zamazenta V cards have been revealed. Mind that these V cards are still incomplete yet and is missing card information. We also get to see the first cards of the Galar Starters Grookey, Sobble and Scorbunny. Also the Galar Collection box images have been revealed.
- This set will feature 202 cards in the main set, excluding secret rares.
- In Japan this set where our set will be based of, will release in December 6, 2019
- Sword & Shield Black Star Promo cards are called SWSH + number
- Based on numbering, Zacian and Zamazenta appear to be Steel type (this is an assumption!)
- Regulation mark symbols are confirmed, the same was as Japan currently does (more info on that in this article)
Also we get a first look at the regular Sword and Shield card designs. We get to see the first ever promo's of the starters Grookey, Sobble and Scorbunny that are going to be released in the Galar Collection boxes with each featuring a pin of the respective Galar Starter Pokémon and a Jumbo card of Zacian V or Zamazenta V.
The Galar Collection boxes will release on November 15, 2019 on the same day the games are released.
The set Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield will release on February 7, 2020.
Sword & Shield TCG included the Japanese set regulation symbols. It's part of Block D, which starts with Sword & Shield TCG. This will play a huge part of future format rotation. Block C is Team Up - (end of Sun & Moon TCG set). This could be concept art and could still change.
Explanation:
In Japan, where these cards originated from, they are straight reprints from their respective set. They work with symbols;
- Block A = Sun & Moon base to Crimson Invasion
- Block B = Ultra Prism to Lost Thunder
- Block C = Team Up to Final S&M set
- Block D = Sword & Shield TCG to future SwSh TCG sets
